What Fieldsmith is and how it's laid out
Fieldsmith runs the paperwork side of a service business: what work is booked, who's doing it, and whether you've been paid for it. Everything hangs off three things: customers, jobs, and invoices.
The three things everything else is built on
A customer is a person or business you work for. A job is one visit: a date, a time, an address, and what you're doing there. An invoice is the bill for work that's finished.
Almost everything in Fieldsmith is one of those three or a shortcut between them. A job becomes an invoice. An invoice gets paid. That's the spine.
Where things live
The bar at the bottom of your phone (or the rail down the side on a computer) holds the screens you'll open every day: Home, Jobs, Customers, and Money. It's the same whether you work alone or run a crew.
The + in the middle of the bar starts anything new: a job, a proposal, an invoice, an expense, a customer. Your proposals live inside Jobs, and your invoices are the first thing Money shows you.
Everything else is in Settings: pricing, your business details, how the app looks, your booking page. On your phone, tap your picture in the top corner to get there.
A normal day
Open Jobs to see what's on. Work through it. Mark each one complete as you finish.
Completing a job builds the invoice for you. Depending on your settings that either lands as a draft for you to look over, or goes straight to the customer.
