Fieldsmith MCP Server: Run Your Field Service Business From Claude or Grok

Fieldsmith's MCP server connects an AI assistant to your field service business. Add one address to Claude or Grok, sign in with your Fieldsmith login, and ask: what's on today, who owes me money, move the Lopez mow to Friday. It has 28 tools across jobs, customers, invoices, expenses and booking requests. Nothing reaches a customer until you've seen a preview, and it comes with every Fieldsmith plan.

Set it up

In Claude

  1. In Fieldsmith, open Settings → Advanced and copy the connector address.
  2. In Claude, on the web or in the app, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste it.
  3. Claude sends you to Fieldsmith to sign in. Approve what it may do.
  4. Ask “what's on today?”

In Grok

  1. Copy the same address from Settings → Advanced in Fieldsmith.
  2. On grok.com, open Connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom, and paste it.
  3. Sign in to Fieldsmith when Grok asks, and approve.
  4. Ask “what's on today?”

Custom connectors depend on your assistant's plan. Check Anthropic's or xAI's current plans for yours.

What it can do

Your schedule and jobs

  • get_schedule See today's jobs, or any day or stretch of up to two weeks, in route order.
  • get_job_details Pull up one job: the customer, the address, the crew and its invoice.
  • create_job Book a job for a customer you have or a new one. If a name could be two people, it asks which.
  • reschedule_job Move a job to another day or time. A job that's done or cancelled stays put.
  • complete_job Mark a job done. A repeating job books its next visit, and if your settings make an invoice, it's made as a draft for you to check.
  • add_material Add a material to a job, and hear whether and how it will be billed.

Customers

  • list_customers Look through your customers, or search for one.
  • get_customer_details One customer's history: what they've paid, what they owe, and their recent jobs and invoices.
  • create_customer Add a customer with a phone number or an email.
  • update_customer Change a customer's name, phone, email, address or notes.
  • preview_customer_import Paste rows from a spreadsheet and see which are new, which you already have, and which can't be used. Nothing is added yet.
  • import_customers Add the new customers from that preview, and only those.

Invoices and getting paid

  • get_dashboard_stats How business is going: jobs this week and month, money in, and what you're owed.
  • list_invoices See your invoices, or just the unpaid or overdue ones, with the total you're owed.
  • create_invoice Make an invoice from a job, from line items, or for a set amount. It's a draft. Nothing is sent.
  • preview_invoice_send See exactly what the customer would get, the email and whether a text goes too, before anything is sent.
  • send_invoice Send the invoice you just previewed. If it changed since, it isn't sent.
  • mark_invoice_paid Record that a customer paid you, in cash or by check. It moves no money.
  • preview_payment_reminders See who would get a payment reminder, how late each one is, and the exact message. Nothing is sent.
  • send_payment_reminders Send the reminders you previewed. Any that changed since, like an invoice that got paid, are held back and you're told why.

Expenses

  • log_expense Log an expense or miles driven, on a job if you like, and get a link to add the receipt photo.
  • list_expenses See your expenses, newest first, by date, category or job.
  • expense_summary Money out for a month or a date range, by category, with miles and what they're worth.

Booking requests and proposals

  • list_booking_requests See the requests that came in from your booking page.
  • accept_booking_request Book a request as a job. Nothing is sent to the customer.
  • decline_booking_request Turn a request down. Nothing is sent to the customer.
  • draft_proposal Write a draft proposal. You send it from Fieldsmith.

Help

  • search_help Answer questions about how Fieldsmith works from its help articles, with a link to each one it used.

What it won’t do without you

  • Nothing reaches a customer until you've seen it. Sending an invoice or a payment reminder takes a preview first, and anything that changed since the preview is held back.
  • It can't move money. No payouts, no refunds, no charging a card. Marking an invoice paid only records money you already have.
  • It can't send a proposal, and it can't change whether a customer agreed to get texts.
  • Only the owner can connect it, and you get an email each time a new app is connected. It reaches your business and nobody else's.
  • In Claude, by default it checks with you before it changes anything.
  • Cut it off any time, in Fieldsmith under Settings → Advanced → Connected apps, or in the assistant.

Things to ask

  • “What's on today?”
  • “Who owes me money, and how late are they?”
  • “Rain tomorrow. Push the Lopez mow to Friday at 9.”
  • “Mark the Hernandez job done and invoice it.”
  • “Remind everyone who's more than two weeks late.”
  • “Log $48 at Home Depot for the Garcia job.”

Frequently asked questions

Does Fieldsmith have an MCP server?

Yes. Fieldsmith's MCP server is at https://api.fieldsmith.work/mcp. It uses Streamable HTTP and signs you in with OAuth, so there are no API keys. It has 28 tools and comes with every plan.

Which AI assistants does it work with?

Claude and Grok, and we've tested both. It's built on MCP, the open standard, but we haven't tested it in ChatGPT yet.

Do I need a developer to set it up?

No. You copy one address from Fieldsmith, paste it into Claude or Grok, and sign in. It takes about two minutes.

Can it send things to my customers on its own?

No. An invoice or a payment reminder goes out only after you've seen a preview of exactly what will be sent. It can't send proposals at all.

Is my business data safe?

It signs in as you and reaches only your own business. Only the owner can connect it, you're emailed when a new app is connected, and you can cut it off any time in Settings → Advanced → Connected apps.

How do I get Fieldsmith?

Fieldsmith is invite-only for now. Request access at fieldsmith.work/demo and the team that builds it will get you set up.
