Help / Getting started

Scheduling your first job

A job is one visit. Pick the customer, pick the date and time, say what the work is, and it's on your schedule.

What a job needs

A customer, a date, and a time. The service type (mow, service call, inspection) is what tells Fieldsmith how to price it if you're using a price book.

How long you expect it to take matters if you bill by the hour, because that's what the invoice multiplies your rate by.

  1. Open Jobs and add a new job.
  2. Pick the customer.
  3. Set the date, the time, and how long you expect it to take.
  4. Pick the service type.
  5. Save.

Where it shows up

On the Jobs list, on the calendar, and (if you work on your own) on your Route for that day, in time order with the drive between stops.
