Under a few hundred dollars the difference is pocket change, so take whatever is easiest for the customer. Over a thousand, the $20 cap does real work, so on a big job it's worth one line on the invoice telling the customer they can pay from their bank.
Venmo, Cash App, PayPal and Zelle
Put your handles on your invoices and customers get a code they can scan to pay you directly. Fieldsmith takes nothing on those. Because the money never passes through us, you mark the invoice paid yourself.
When the money reaches your bank
Card and bank payments pay out daily or weekly, your choice. A brand new Stripe account holds its payouts for seven days, once, as a fraud check. After that your schedule runs normally.
Questions owners ask
How much does Fieldsmith charge on a card payment?
3.2% plus 30¢ per payment. A $300 job paid by card costs $9.90.
How much does a bank transfer cost?
1% of the payment, and never more than $20. Any job from $2,000 up costs $20 to take by bank transfer.
Who pays the fee?
It comes out of the payment, so what reaches your bank is the invoice total minus the fee. Your customer pays the invoice amount.
Is there a fee on Venmo, Cash App, PayPal or Zelle?
Not from Fieldsmith. Those payments go straight from your customer to your account. The app you use may have its own terms.
Is there anything else on top?
No. That fee is the whole cost of taking the payment. There's no separate processing charge afterwards.
