Marking an invoice paid yourself
If someone pays you in cash or by cheque, mark the invoice paid yourself. Card and bank payments made through the link mark themselves. You don't have to touch those.
Recording it
Open the invoice and record the payment. You can record part of the total too, if someone paid half now.
Don't do this for online payments
A card or bank payment through the pay link marks the invoice paid on its own, usually within moments for a card. Marking it yourself as well doesn't double-charge anyone, but it does make your records harder to trust.
If an online payment hasn't shown up after a while, that's worth a message rather than a manual override.
