Fieldsmith vs GorillaDesk for Pest Control and Lawn Care Crews (2026): An Honest Comparison

By Fieldsmith · Published November 2, 2026 · Updated November 3, 2026

GorillaDesk prices by how many routes you run, not how many people are on them: Basic is $49 a month for one route, Pro is $99 with GPS tracking and QuickBooks sync, and each added route costs $30 to $100 a month depending on plan. Fieldsmith prices by team size with no route limit: Solo is $49 a month, Crew is $99 for up to 10 people. A single route shop pays about the same either way; a crew running several routes usually pays more on GorillaDesk.

Key takeaways

  • GorillaDesk charges by the number of routes you run: Basic is $49/month for the first route, Pro is $99, and Growth is $149, each adding $30 to $100/month per extra route depending on plan. Fieldsmith charges by team size with no route limit: Solo is $49/month, Crew is $99 for up to 10 people, Fleet is $199 for 10 to 25.
  • A shop running 10 routes on GorillaDesk's Pro plan, one route per technician, comes to about $549/month. Fieldsmith's Crew plan covers the same 10 people at a flat $99/month, because it never charges extra for more routes or more jobs.
  • GorillaDesk has GPS tracking of technicians' phones, two way texting, one way QuickBooks Online sync, and autopay for recurring customers, none of which Fieldsmith has. The first three of those, plus e-signed documents and review requests, sit behind its Pro plan, not Basic.
  • GorillaDesk's card rate through Stripe is 2.9% + 30 cents, cheaper than Fieldsmith's 3.2% + 30 cents, and it can add that fee to the customer's invoice as a surcharge. Fieldsmith's fee always comes out of the payment instead.
  • Pick GorillaDesk if you need GPS tracking, texting, or QuickBooks sync today. Pick Fieldsmith if your crew runs several routes and you want one flat price regardless of route count.

Two ways to price the same crew

Fieldsmith charges for the size of your team and nothing else. Solo is $49 a month ($39 billed annually) for one person, Crew is $99 a month for up to 10, and Fleet is $199 a month for 10 to 25. However many routes or jobs you run in a month, the price doesn't move.

GorillaDesk charges per route, and which plan you need depends on which features that route has to have. Basic's first route is $49 a month, and each of routes 2 and 3 adds $50, with route 4 and up adding $30. Pro's first route is $99 a month, with every added route costing $50. Growth's first route is $149, route 2 adds $100, and route 3 and up each adds $50.

Run the numbers on a 10 person crew where each person runs their own route and the shop needs GPS tracking and QuickBooks sync, so Pro is the plan that fits: $99 for the first route plus $50 for each of the other nine comes to $549 a month. Fieldsmith's Crew plan covers the same 10 people at a flat $99 a month, because it never charges more as route count climbs. If some of those routes carry more than one person, as a number of crews run them, GorillaDesk's bill would come down, since it charges per route rather than per head.

The same math favors GorillaDesk for a shop that doesn't need those Pro-only features. A one route, one person business pays $49 a month either way, Fieldsmith Solo or GorillaDesk Basic, a tie. But GorillaDesk's Basic plan leaves out GPS tracking, QuickBooks sync, e-signed documents, and review requests; reaching those means moving up to the $99 Pro plan, the same price as Fieldsmith's Crew plan built for up to 10 people.

Where GorillaDesk pulls ahead

From the Pro plan up, GorillaDesk pings a technician's phone for GPS location, no extra hardware needed, and plots routes with turn by turn directions in the mobile app. Live crew location tracking is on Fieldsmith's roadmap but not built yet.

GorillaDesk's two way texting lets a crew text a customer and get a reply back, with a local phone number for $5 a month and text credits sold in bundles that don't expire. It has also started selling an AI agent add on that answers texts and calls around the clock and can turn them into booked jobs. Fieldsmith has no two way texting inbox.

GorillaDesk also syncs customers, invoices, payments, and US tax one way into QuickBooks Online, from the Pro plan up. Fieldsmith doesn't sync with QuickBooks; invoices and payments made in Fieldsmith have to be moved across by hand or by a bookkeeper.

For recurring customers, GorillaDesk can save a card on file and bill it automatically on each visit. Fieldsmith generates recurring jobs on a schedule but doesn't charge a saved card on its own; each invoice is sent for the customer to pay.

GorillaDesk ships both an iPhone and an Android app. Fieldsmith has an iPhone app and otherwise works in any phone's web browser.

Getting paid: where the fees differ

On a $300 job paid by card, GorillaDesk's Stripe rate of 2.9% + 30 cents comes to $9.00, a little under Fieldsmith's 3.2% + 30 cents at $9.90. Taking the payment in the field through Square instead brings GorillaDesk's rate to 2.6% + 10 cents, $7.90 on the same job. GorillaDesk can also add its processing fee to the customer's invoice as a surcharge; Fieldsmith's fee always comes out of the payment, with no surcharge option.

For bank transfers, Fieldsmith charges 1%, capped at $20, so a $4,000 install paid from a bank account costs $20. We did not find a published GorillaDesk fee for bank transfers.

Fieldsmith also prints Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, and Zelle handles on the invoice with a code the customer can scan, none of which carry a Fieldsmith fee. We did not find Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App on GorillaDesk's payment pages; it processes cards through Stripe or Square.

No sales calls, no add-on shopping

Every note sent from Fieldsmith's feedback button goes straight to the team that builds the product, and requests from early customers have shipped in days. Setup is guided by that same team, with no upsell calls, because there is nothing to upsell: every feature already in the plan you picked.

GorillaDesk sells pieces on top of its per route price: a local phone number for texting is $5 a month, text credits come in bundles from $50 to $200, and its newer AI agent features are their own add on. Moving up a plan tier, from Basic to Pro to Growth, also changes which features you get, not just how many routes you can run.

Which one to pick

  • Pick GorillaDesk if you need GPS tracking, two way texting, or QuickBooks sync today, or if your shop runs one or two routes and doesn't need those features yet.
  • Pick Fieldsmith if your crew runs several routes and you want one price that doesn't move as you add trucks, want deposits and e-signed proposals without an upgrade, or want to take Venmo, Zelle, or a bank transfer without a percentage card rate.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fieldsmith cheaper than GorillaDesk?

It depends on how many routes you run and which features you need, not how many people you have. A one route, one person shop pays $49 a month either way, Fieldsmith Solo or GorillaDesk Basic, though Basic leaves out GPS tracking, QuickBooks sync, and e-signed documents. A 10 person crew running 10 routes on GorillaDesk's Pro plan comes to about $549 a month; Fieldsmith's Crew plan covers the same 10 people at a flat $99, because it never charges more as route count grows.

Does GorillaDesk track where my crew is?

Yes, from its Pro plan up. It pings a technician's phone for location, with no extra hardware, and shows routes with turn by turn directions in the mobile app. Fieldsmith does not have live crew location tracking yet.

Does Fieldsmith sync with QuickBooks?

No. Fieldsmith doesn't sync with QuickBooks or any other bookkeeping software, so invoices and payments have to be moved across by hand or by a bookkeeper. GorillaDesk syncs customers, invoices, payments, and US tax one way into QuickBooks Online, from its Pro plan up.

Can I text customers from GorillaDesk?

Yes, two way, built into the platform. A local phone number costs $5 a month and text credits are sold in bundles starting at $50 for 1,000 messages. Fieldsmith has no two way texting inbox.
